An 83-year-old San Carlos woman was killed as she was walking across El Camino Real in Belmont Friday morning, police said.
The victim was using a walker as she was crossing El Camino Real at Fifth Avenue when a minivan struck her before 6:45 a.m. when police responded to the collision.
Police said the driver of the van stopped and cooperated with investigators.
She was found lying in the road when officers arrived. She was treated by paramedics and taken to a hospital where she died.
Police said it appears that the victim was crossing El Camino Real in an area where there was no crosswalk. The driver of the minivan was traveling south on El Camino Real.
Police said it does appear the driver was impaired or speeding.
Southbound El Camino Real between Harbor Boulevard and Fifth Avenue was either fully or partially closed until about noon for an investigation.
