880 Body Struck by Cars

California Highway Patrol investigators are searching for the driver of a light-colored Nissan Sentra who possibly witnessed a fatal
hit-and-run this morning on Interstate Highway 880 in Fremont, a spokeswoman said.

The CHP also is trying to contact any other witnesses who might have information regarding the hit-and-run that closed lanes of northbound
Highway 880 for almost three hours, spokeswoman Cristina Tagle said.

The body was found at about 4 a.m. after possibly being struck by vehicles just north of Thornton Avenue, according to CHP Officer Robert Haven.

The Alameda County coroner's bureau was called to the area shortly afterward.

All lanes of northbound Highway 880 were initially shut down. The far left lane was reopened at about 5:30 a.m. and the rest of the lanes were reopened by about 6:55 a.m., according to CHP Officer Marc Johnston.
