Adopt Your 4-Legged BFF For Free

Group aims to create "no-kill nation"

If you were thinking of adding to your family, you could adopt a four-legged friend for free this weekend.

Maddie's Fund, the biggest pet foundation in the U.S., is partnering with East Bay animal rescue groups for an adopt-a-thon. The organization will give each of the participating shelters $500 per adoption. The grants are part of goal of the group's goal of creating a "no-kill nation."

You can meet with your potential pet in Walnut Creek at the Pet Food Express store on South California Boulevard or in Danville at the store on the 600 block of San Ramon Valley Boulevard. Here's a map of other Bay Area animal shelters that are part of the Maddie's Fund mission.
