Albany Schools Under Lockdown for Hours

An El Sobrante family's drama moved from their home to the nearby high school Wednesday.

A father came home in the middle of the night to find his son and his gun missing and that that has the boy's high school on alert, according to police.

Albany High School was put on lockdown Wednesday morning for two hours while police searched for 16-year-old John Scott, according to the school.

Police say Scott's father reported him missing overnight. The case would be a typical runaway, but the missing gun caused police to ask the school to go into lockdown as a precaution. "There was no direct threat to students, staff or a school,"  Superintendent Marla Stephenson told Bay City News.

Scott was last seen wearing black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, black tennis shoes.

Police say the teenager may be upset about some recent problems.

Anyone who may have seen the boy is asked to contact Albany police at (510) 525-7300.
