Armed Bank Robbery in San Jose

The various lockdowns at area elementary schools have been lifted.

San Jose police have arrested two suspects in an armed bank robbery that prompted a lockdown at several nearby schools this afternoon.

The robbery occurred at about 1:15 p.m. when two men armed with guns entered a Wells Fargo bank at 2061 Camden Ave. and demanded cash, San Jose police Officer Jose Garcia said.

The suspects took the money and fled on foot, Garcia said.

One was arrested nearby a short time later and had a loaded gun on him, Garcia said. As police searched for the second suspect, nearby schools were told to either go on lockdown or shelter in place.

Police found the second suspect in a car on Interstate Highway 880 near Brokaw Road and arrested him at about 2:30 p.m.

Lockdowns were lifted at these area elementary schools:

  • Oster Elementary School
  • Price Charter Middle School
  • Camden Community Day School
  • ATLC Pre-School
  • Fammatre Elementary School
  • Saint Francis Cibrini Elementary School
  • Cambrian School District Offices
