Armed Robbers Steal From Chavez Supermarket in San Jose

San Jose police say armed robbers burst into Chavez Supermarket on Thursday night with masked suspects taking cash and fleeing the scene in a getaway vehicle.

The robbery was reported about 8:45 p.m. at the store on 2670 Monterey Highway. An employee in the store called police to say that at least one man with a gun ordered people down to the floor before demanding money, according to Officer Albert Morales. There may have been four suspects in the store, and at least two had guns, witnesses said.

Some were masked, and others had hoodies, Morales said.

Police interviewed witnesses until at least 11 p.m. but no one has been arrested.
