Art Exhibit Remembers Platinum Anniversary of Oakland Hills Fire

Twenty years ago next month, the hills of Oakland and Berkeley were engulfed in flames and smoke.

The platinum anniversary of the Oakland hills fire isn't until Oct. 19 but Thursday night the Oakland Main Library will begin a commemoration of the fire.

The library will host an exhibit featuring reports from the Oakland fire department, newspaper clippings, survivor stories and images of the fire.

The exhibit will run through Nov. 30 and is open to the public free of charge.

Thursday evenings reception starts at 5:30 p.m. and is open to the public.
