Mr. Demi Moore is investing in another Bay Area startup. This time the actor has put his money into Airbnb, a startup that connects people with space to share with those looking for a spot to crash.
Another service, CouchSurfing International, established in 2004, which operates couchsurfing.org, has no connection to Airbnb or Kutcher.
The company announced the investment in a blog post Wednesday. While Airbnb says it is Kutcher's largest VC investment thus far, they are not saying how much he is investing.
Ashton Kutcher – the man whose social media savvy made him a Twitter force to be reckoned with – has announced that he has made a significant investment in Airbnb and will be joining the team as a strategic advisor.
The company has risen from a humble start to secure $7.8 million in funding.
-- Editor's note: The original version of this story has been updated to make clear that Ashton Kutcher is investing in Airbnb not CouchSurfing International Inc., operators of www.CouchSurfing.org, a service for travelers which encourages and facilitates cultural interaction. CouchSurfing International is a nonprofit organization.
