That mad dash for BART trains -- often fruitless -- are coming to a close with the introduction of real-time clocks being added to platforms, according to the Chronicle.
At least 13 stations will get departure screens like the one in the Embarcadero Station -- the only one, at present, in the system.
The goal is to prevent crowding, of course, but the budgets were never there. Plus, there was a concern over maintaining the clocks, but eventually the riders' situation won out.
The signage is the beginning of a gradual rollout across all 44 BART stations at a cost of about $520,000. Pleasant Hill is the first station to score the new clocks.
