BART Delayed Due to Death

BART is reporting major delays this afternoon because of a medical emergency at the Embarcadero station.

Trains are single-tracking around a train that is stopped at the station, causing delays of up to 30 minutes.

BART spokesman Jim Allison said the person affected by the medical emergency has died, but said he could not yet provide more details.

The Fremont-to-Daly City and Richmond-to-Daly City lines have stopped service through that station, and riders on those lines are being told to transfer to other lines.

There is still service between Pittsburg/Bay Point and SFO, and between Dublin/Pleasanton and Millbrae, he said. The Richmond-to-Fremont line is also up and running.

Allison said the coroner's office has been called to the Embarcadero station.
