BART Halts Service From Fruitvale to Coliseum Station

BART officials will shut down service between the Fruitvale and Coliseum stations in Oakland this weekend for planned maintenance, according to BART.

BART officials said they will shut down service starting at 7 p.m. Saturday through the end of the Sunday service day. BART officials will restore service for the Monday morning commute that starts at 4 a.m. Travelers will be able to take buses between the two stations Sunday, but BART Officials are encouraging travelers to use another medium of travel if possible.

"If you got a plan B, use it," BART spokesman Taylor Huckaby said. Huckaby said BART officials are grateful for riders' patience during the service interruptions.

Bus travel will increase travel times by 30 to 60 minutes compared with normal BART service, according to BART.

BART officials said the buses are lifelines for BART travelers, but officials recognize the Oakland A's are playing at the O.co Coliseum Sunday.

BART officials are asking bicyclists to leave their bikes at home or locked up at a station rather than bringing them on a bus, if possible.

Residents should expect service between the Coliseum and Fruitvale stations to be closed for the next three weekends as crews make vital repairs to make travel safer and more reliable, according to BART.

Residents can expect more weekend closures until August.

BART service from the Coliseum station to Oakland International Airport will be operating, BART officials said.
