BART Train Out of Service This Weekend After Rider Says He Found Bed Bugs on Leg

A BART train is out of service this weekend after a rider said he found bed bugs on his leg.

A BART spokeswoman said it happened Thursday as the passenger boarded a train at the 19th Street Station in Oakland.

The train was heading to San Francisco International Airport.

The passenger emailed BART about the bed bug finding. Then, BART workers took the train out of service for cleaning.

"Our vehicles are not conducive hosts for insect habitation or propagation, but it is possible that insects can be introduced via the person or belongings of any other riders," BART said Saturday in a statement.
