The San Francisco Planning Commission has saved the popular Bacon Bacon restaurant.
The commission approved permits Thursday for the Haight-Ashbury restaurant to reopen. The restaurant closed more than a month ago when neighbors complained about the smell of bacon wafting through the neighborhood.
The two and a half hour commission hearing was packed with restaurant supporters, many who were wearing Bacon Bacon hats and t-shirts.
Neighbors who opposed the restaurant said that they were concerned about the noise and the smell of bacon, as well as having the restaurant load its food truck in the neighborhood.

Bacon Bacon owner Jim Angelus agreed to install an air filtration system and load the food truck at the business’s second location at Brick & Mortar in the Mission District.
The attorney for the concerned neighbors said that his clients are satisfied with the agreement.
Angelus says he hopes to reopen just as soon as he can get the work done.
