Suspects in Custody Following Hours-Long Standoff at Mission Peak Lodge in Fremont

At least two people are in custody following an hours-long standoff in Fremont.

Police and SWAT surrounded the Mission Peak Lodge Friday afternoon to respond to armed suspects who were barricaded inside.

The standoff was reported just before 2 p.m. Mission Boulevard was closed in both directions between Anza and Pine streets during the police response.

Earlier in the day, police were following up on a stolen vehicle investigation that led them to the parking lot at the Mission Peak Lodge.

Police said investigators made contact with one suspect at around 12:24 p.m. and arrested him. The suspect had a gun in his backpack.

Investigators later learned several other suspects were in a room at the motel with guns inside. Police and SWAT then established a perimeter around the Mission Peak Lodge.

At around 5:30 p.m., a SWAT vehicle was seen ramming into the lodge. Police then got two men to come out of the building. The two men were taken into police custody.

No other information was immediately available.
