Bay Area Businesses Offering Food, Deals to Veterans

Throughout the Bay Area many businesses are offering free food and deals to honor those who have served in the U.S. military this Veterans Day.

Many chain food establishments such as Krispy Kreme, Hooters, Olive Garden, TGI Friday's, On the Border Mexican Grill and Cantina, Chili's, Starbucks, Applebee's, Texas Roadhouse, McCormick and Schmick's Seafood and Steaks and others are offering free food, drinks and other items to those with military identification today.

Many of the freebies are a way for businesses to say "thank you" to those who serve.

Free haircuts are being offered at Sport Clips for cardholding active-duty personnel and veterans. There are barbershop locations in San Ramon, Petaluma, Concord, Morgan Hill, Pleasant Hill and Dublin.

In Richmond, Chevron is hosting an event at the SS Red Oak Victory ship at 10 a.m. A memorial flower toss and tours of the ship, along with musical entertainment are part of the celebration.

The SS Red Oak Victory is docked at Berth 6A at 1333 Canal Blvd.
