Officials say 31-year-old Tom Heng of San Rafael left on what was supposed to be a day hike to the summit of Mt. Langley, which stands 14,026 feet, but never returned.

Sequoia National Park spokeswoman Dana Dierkes says Heng was last seen near the summit of the mountain Sunday afternoon.

Two helicopters and more than 20 staffers from Sequoia, Kings Canyon and Yosemite National Parks are searching for Heng. They're joined by officials from the Inyo County Sheriff's Department.
