The United States Postal Service has targeted 13 post offices here in the Bay Area for possible closure.
The offices are on a list of 3,700 retail locations across the country.
There are five in San Francisco:
- Federal Building
- Bayview
- Civic Center
- McLaren
- Visitacion
Oakland:
- Byron Rumford
- Oakmont
Also:
- Colonnade in San Jose
- Veteranโs Home in Yountville
- Colma
- Linden in South San Francisco
- Loma Mar in San Mateo County
- San Gregorio in San Mateo County
The list targets facilities that have suffered from "insufficient customer demand" or where customers have other options for buying stamps and postal services nearby.
The USPS reported a $8.5 billion net loss last year. That followed a $3.8 billion loss in 2009.
