Bay Area Teacher Slapped With Child Porn Charges

A Bay Area middle school teacher is getting a lesson in the law in connection with child pornography.

William Foreman, 41, surrendered to San Francisco police on Sept. 13. According to the Bay Citizen, police were alerted to Foreman's possible violations by way of an online escort, who contacted them after Foreman tried to hire her to have a sex with him and a 9-year-old girl.

Investigators searched Foreman's home and determined the 9-year-old girl didn't exist. During their search, however, police seized Foreman's computer and soon discovered up to 50 pornographic images of kids.

Police are tight-lipped about the case but the district attorney's office said Foreman's charges include felony counts of child porn possession and distributing obscene material depicting a person under 18. He's also facing a misdemeanor count related to the sexual exploitation of a child.

Foreman is a teacher at Winton Middle School, is on leave from Hayward Unified School District. He's been an employee of the school district since 2006, according to the Oakland Tribune and lives in San Francisco. He was arraigned on Sept. 17 but has not yet entered a plea. He's due back in court on Oct. 28.

Police are trying to determine whether Foreman has worked with children before in other parts of California.
