Bay Area Volunteers Help K-9s in Afghanistan

Some volunteers in the Bay Area raised funds and supplies to help the four-legged troops halfway around the world in Afghanistan.

This weekend, they received pictures from Bagram Air Force Base of their supplies being put to good use. These are mostly members of what they call the TEDD team--or "Tactical Explosive Detection Dogs."

The soldiers said they need the toys for the dogs, for training, and the toys help relieve stress as well.

Bay Area police departments along with Golden State German Shepherd Rescue out of Walnut Creek collected toys, treats, medical supplies, and dog beds for the soldiers.

They said they still need donations to ship the rest of the supplies.

To make a tax-deductible donation to help send the larger, heavier boxes with the dog beds, crate liners, and medical equipment, you can go to www.operationcreekside.org and indicate "For the K-9s."
