Bay Point Shooting Victim Dies, Deputies Rule Incident A Homicide

A shooting in Bay Point on Sunday is now being ruled a homicide after the 18-year-old victim died in the hospital, a sheriff's spokesman said Friday.

The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office identified the man as Harley Crawford, who lived in Bay Point and Oakley. Deputies responded just before 11 p.m. to a report of a person who had been shot in the area of Anchor and Riverside drives, sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said in a statement.

Lee said deputies found the man, later identified as Crawford, in a car suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital, where he died, Lee said.

Detectives canvassed the neighborhood, conducted interviews and are working with other law enforcement agencies in the area, Lee said.
