Bed Bugs Discovered at UC Berkeley Campus Hub

One of the most popular student hubs on the UC Berkeley campus shuttered Tuesday after bed bugs were discovered on a chair, the university's student newspaper reported.

Campus spokesperson Adam Ratliff told the paper that the tiny insects "likely originated from a visitor," and said that several buildings closed for inspection would reopen on Sunday, ahead of Fall Semester starting.

"At this time, measures are being taken to detect if bedbugs are present elsewhere and, as a prescaution, potentially impacted areas of the Student Union have been closed to the public."
