SUV Hits Bicyclists in San Jose, Leaving 1 Dead, Another Seriously Hurt

An SUV struck two bicyclists in San Jose Monday morning, leaving one dead and the other with life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The collision happened around 7:45 a.m. in the area of Vistapark Drive and Capitol Expressway, police said.

The two bicyclists, who have only been identified as men at this time, were riding southbound on Vistapark Drive south of Capitol Expressway when they were hit by the SUV as the driver pulled out of a parking lot, according to police.

The woman behind the wheel of the SUV stayed at the scene and is cooperating with authorities, police said. Police do not believe that alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
