Wal-Mart Black Friday Sale Turns Violent

Police: Fight over merchandise leads to shooting

Black Friday shoppers in the East Bay were confronted by crime scene tape and flashing police lights, after an overnight shooting at a Walmart parking lot.

Police responded to reports of shots fired at the Walmart on Hesperian Boulevard in San Leandro at around 1:45 Friday morning.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a man lying on the ground with gunshot wounds.

He was taken to a nearby hospital in critical, but stable, condition.

Police tell us one man is now in custody, but it’s unclear if that man is the suspected shooter.

Officers say the victim was walking to his car with his family when they were confronted by several suspects.

The suspects asked the victims for their recently purchased items.

When the victims refused, a fight broke out and one suspect pulled out a gun.

Some of the victims wrestled down one of the suspects.

At least two other suspects drove away in a car.
