Bodies of Missing Boys Found

The bodies of the two boys who went missing during a rafting trip Saturday, have been found.

Authorities identified them as Matthew Miller, 16, and Gavin Powell, 17, both of Walnut Creek, according to the Chronicle.

The two had gone rafting in a two-person inflatable raft, at about 2 p.m. Saturday, in the Walnut Creek.

The creek's water level is known to vary from two feet to 15 during storms.

Police found the deflated raft this morning in the creek near Bancroft and Bentley streets in Concord.

Miller's body was found at about 11:30 a.m. between Imhoff Drive and Highway 4, while Powell's body was found two hours later near Stanwell Drive, also in Concord.

The boys were juniors at Las Lomas High School and were found with helmets, but no life vests.
