Brush Fire Closes Highway One

Crews were still mopping up Sunday morning from an 89-acre grass blaze in Bodega Bay  that hospitalized one firefighter and destroyed one structure Saturday afternoon, an official said.

It looks like the fiefighter was shocked after touching a power line and was listed in critical condition Sunday morning.

The fire was reported at about 1 p.m. near state Highway 1.    It's biggest impact was the closure of Highway 1.

Eighty percent of the blaze was contained at about 7:30 p.m. by  more than 100 responding firefighters and hand crews, Cal Fire emergency  dispatcher Shelly Putman said.

The fire destroyed one structure and at least two vehicles.

One person who lives near where the fire started said she witnessed a power line sparking the fire.
