Brush Fire Spreads Quickly South of San Jose Off Highway 101

Fire crews responded to a brush fire that sparked just south of San Jose off Highway 101, near Bailey Road, on Wednesday afternoon, according to Cal Fire.

The fire started about 3:25 p.m. and quickly spread to 100 acres, fire officials said.

No structures were immediately threatened, and no injuries were reported. The fire was about 50 percent contained about 4:45 p.m., and crews had stopped its forward progress.

People at the nearby Coyote Creek Golf Club were asked by firefighters to take shelter inside the clubhouse.

The cause of the fire was not yet known. No further details were available.
