Burglary Suspect Identified in San Mateo County

Suspect is Melvin Bellard, 20, of San Francisco

Police in Belmont have identified a suspect in several home burglaries that took place earlier this year in Belmont, Hillsborough and San Mateo.

Melvin Bellard, a 20-year-old San Francisco resident with ties to the East Bay, has been identified as a suspect in as many as four home burglaries that took place in Peninsula communities on April 5, according to Belmont police.

Bellard was allegedly pursued in a white Chevy Malibu out of Hillsborough following the crimes, during which several items were thrown from the window, police said.

Investigators later determined that the Malibu was the suspect

vehicle connected to a home burglary in San Mateo.

Bellard is described as standing 5 feet 9 inches tall with a stock build and weighing around 170 pounds.

The suspect is considered dangerous.
