CHP Officials Seek Help Locating Person Responsible for Fatal Collision

California Highway Patrol officials are seeking the public's help in finding the person responsible for a fatal collision that occurred Tuesday night in San Rafael.

At 8:35 p.m., CHP officials received a call of a body on the Lucas Valley Road off-ramp from northbound U.S. Highway 101.

CHP officers and San Rafael police and fire crews arrived on the scene and located a man in the off-ramp lane, near the vehicle entrance to the bus pad, CHP officials said.

Paramedics rendered aid to the victim, but he was pronounced dead a short time later, CHP officials said.

CHP officials said the victim's injuries were consistent with a vehicle strike, however there were no vehicles stopped in the area.

Anyone who may have seen the collision or who has information that would lead to the person responsible is asked to contact the CHP at (707) 551-4100 at any time, or (415) 924-1100 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The Lucas Valley Road off-ramp was closed for a couple of hours but reopened around 11:30 p.m., according to CHP officials.
