Snell Fire Forces Mandatory Evacuations in Napa County

The mandatory evacuation area connected to the Snell Fire in Napa County has expanded to include the west side of Berryessa Knoxville Road from Pope Creek Bridge to the Napa County line, the Napa County Sheriff's Office said.

Residents of Snell Valley Road and connecting roadways had already been ordered to evacuate because of a growing wildfire northwest of Lake Berryessa.

The Snell Fire is centered near the intersection of Snell Valley Road and Butts Valley Road about eight miles southeast of Middletown in unincorporated Napa County. The fire had grown to about 1,700 acres by 8 p.m. Saturday, according to Cal Fire.

Traffic on Snell Valley Road was one-way only westbound, the sheriff's office said.

Also included in the mandatory evacuation is the Berryessa Estates residential community near Lake Berryessa, at the east end of Snell Valley Road.

The Pope Valley Farm Center, on Chiles Pope Valley Road near the Pope Valley Fire station, has been set up as an evacuation center.
