California Delegates See Similarities in 1992, 2016 Democratic National Conventions

California Gov. Jerry Brown called for unity at this week's Democratic National Convention, but a couple of California delegates remember when it was his supporters who were disrupting the convention.

In 1992, Brown ran against Bill Clinton and the DNC initally denied him the podium. Brown's supporters began chanting "Let him speak."

"It was electric, all of the signs were up, people were screaming for the alternates and the honored guests down to the floor," said Mona Pasquil of Walnut Grove, who was an alternate supporting Bill Clinton.

Mary Ellen Early of Sherman Oaks was an unpledged super delegate who voted for Brown.

"But the very next day I was wearing a Bill Clinton button," Early said.

Both Early and Pasquil are delegates at this year's DNC and they see similarities between the passion of that '92 convention and the current one.

This time, Bernie Sanders supporters walked out during Tuesday's roll call and California delegates booed Sanders at a breakfast meeting.

But on Wednesday morning as Sanders addressed the Texas delegates, he received applause instead of boos as he urged support for Clinton.

"It's going to take some time, but I do believe that we share the common goal of not electing Donald Trump," Pasquil said.

NBC Bay Area attempted to reach out to the Never Hillary delegates at the convention without success.
