Victims and families in California affected by the Las Vegas mass shooting may be eligible for financial help through a state agency.
The California Victim Compensation Board (CalVCB) can help pay bills and expenses resulting from violent crime, according to the CalVCB website.
Victims of crime who have been injured or have been threatened with injury may be eligible for help, the board says.
There were 58 people killed and nearly 500 injured in the shooting at a music festival on the Las Vegas Strip Sunday night.
Anyone in attendance at the Route 91 Harvest Festival attack may be able to get help with medical bills, funeral expenses, mental health treatment or lost wages. People may apply for assistance whether or not they were injured in the attack, the board says.
CalVCB says even those who may have no expenses today are encouraged to apply now in case they incur expenses in the future, such as counseling.
