Car Crash Cuts Off Water to Terrell Elementary in San Jose

Students are drinking bottled water and using porta potties today in San Jose

One person was injured early this morning in a two-vehicle crash that broke a main and shut off water to an elementary school in South San Jose, a police spokeswoman said.

San Jose police received a call at around 3 a.m. today that two cars had collided outside Terrell Elementary School at 3925 Pearl Ave., police spokeswoman Sgt. Heather Randol said.

The broken main cut off water service to the school, prompting police to request that a plumber be dispatched to the scene right away, Randol said.

Witnesses reported seeing three males exit one of the cars while the driver stayed behind, according to Randol.

One of the people in the accident complained of pain to their leg and was transported to a hospital, Randol said.

Police had a blood test administered on at least one person involved in the accident who was suspected of having consumed alcohol, Randol said.

A school secretary forwarded inquiries about the accident to the San Jose Unified School District. A spokesperson for the school district could not immediately be reached for comment this morning.
