A car drove into a gas main in front of a Campbell elementary school early Thursday morning, prompting one family to have to evacuate from their house, police said.
Santa Clara County firefighters rushed to Capril Elementary School about 4 a.m., after they were told of the crash, which was deemed a hit-and run.
The driver took off from the scene.
PG&E had turned off the gas before 5:30 a.m., police said, and no one was injured.
