Concord police are looking for suspects in a drive-by shooting that left a2003 white Pontiac Gram Am riddled with bullets and a 25-year-old man shot in the leg.
Lt. Ivan Menchaca said the man was not seriously injured and his 22-year-old passenger wasn't struck at all when bullets rang out at 1 a.m. to westbound Highway 4 west of Willow Pass Road.
According to police and the California Highway Patrol, which closed a portion of the freeway for three hours, the suspect vehicle, possibly a white Charger, was speeding by on the highway when the driver pulled up to the Pontiac, witnesses told police.
The passenger in the suspect vehicle "fired several rounds" at the Pontiac into the driver's side, police said. One of the rounds hit the driver in the leg, and he drove to Kaiser Permanente in Walnut Creek about 10 miles away where he was treated and released. He parked his car in front of the hospital where at least 15 bullets holes were spotted all over the car.
