Cardinal Fans Can Take Their ‘Talents' to South Beach

For Stanford Cardinal fans a trip to the Rose Bowl was the ultimate prize.

But because of rules dictating the BCS system, the Tree will have to 'settle' for a trip to South Florida  -- current weather: sunny and 68, tomorrow sunny and 69, Wednesday sunny and 68 -- and an appearance in the Orange Bowl.

To ease the pain of missing out on Pasadena, the Orange Bowl committee is putting Jim Harbaugh's boys up at the Fontainebleau Resort Miami Beach. And by "Miami Beach" we mean on the beach.

"It is our pleasure to be hosting Stanford and its fans" said FBMB President and General Manager John Rolfs. "We are responsible for feeding them and providing them with ample space for meetings. And when they're not busy working we have fun activities planned for the team."

The hotel, which reopened after a $1 billion dollar makeover in 2008 boasts three renowned restaurants, one of the hottest nightclubs on Miami Beach, and is home to the iconic "staircase to nowhere."

Rolfs also broke some news: Stanford fans can get a 25% room discount January 2nd-4th by logging onto the Fontainebleau site and entering the promo code STAN FAN.

Kickoff for Stanford-Virginia Tech is January 3rd at 5pm.
