Carmel to Install First Parking Meters

It will now require cash to park in Carmel.

Things are changing in Carmel. For the first time, it will cost money to park on the street.

The "quaint" seaside town in Monterey County will see its first-ever parking meters installed early next month, according to the Monterey Herald.

Exact details have yet to be divulged. It appears that the meters will be "multi-space" and will be installed in the first week of November following a public meeting on Oct. 23, the newspaper reported.

The meters will go up on Ocean Avenue between Junipero Street and Monte Verde Street, according to the newspaper.
