Castro Valley Man Charged With Murdering Wife at Home

A 46-year-old Castro Valley man was charged with murder today for allegedly fatally shooting his wife at their home on Friday, prosecutors said.

Feng Mi is scheduled to be arraigned on the murder charge at the Hayward Hall of Justice on the 2 p.m. calendar Wednesday.

Alameda County Sheriff's deputies found Mi's wife, 45-year-old Yunyi Zhang, inside a closet inside the couple's home in the 19600 block of Stanton Avenue in Castro Valley at about 4 p.m. on Friday.

Zhang sustained two apparent gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a probable cause statement by Alameda County Sheriff's Deputy Anthony Moschetti.

During their investigation, deputies developed evidence that linked Mi to Zhang's death, Moschetti said.

Mi surrendered to a California State University East Bay police officer at about 10:30 p.m. on Monday, saying that he knew there was a warrant for his arrest, according to Moschetti.

Mi and Zhang have a 14-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old son, according to the sheriff's office.

Sheriff's officials said deputies had been to the couple's home multiple times previously to respond to reports of domestic violence involving Mi.
