Three men were being questioned Monday after a half-dozen commuters were robbed at gunpoint. Police say they were standing in a casual carpool line.
Investigators say the commuters were waiting for rides on Hudson Street near College Avenue in Oakland's Rockridge neighborhood.
Witnesses tell police that at about 9 a.m. thieves armed with guns walked up and demanded purses, wallets, smart-phones and backpacks.
Some people managed to run off, but they were all badly shaken.
Local business owners are dismayed.
"Of course, it's scary,” Nick Kazimi said. “As a person, I worry about my business. I hope nothing happens to me… this is a good neighborhood…(but there have) been robberies all the time, lately."
Witnesses tell police the men drove off in a silver Honda Civic.
