Cat Cafe KitTea Opens Next Week in San Francisco

Cats may well rule the Internet, and now they're coming for your cafes.

KitTea, a cafe featuring tea, snacks, sweets and adoptable cats from rescue organization Give Me Shelter, plans to open in San Francisco next week.

A similar concept is flourishing in Oakland. Cat Town Cafe and Adoption Center has succeeded in adopting out 184 cats since it opened in October, which has brought the euthanasia rate at partner organization Oakland Animal Services down from 41 to 21 percent.

A firm opening date has not been announced, but a representative told Hoodline that KitTea hopes to debut on June 8.
