Chase Ends With Suspect Shot, Killed in San Francisco

 A vehicle pursuit that began in Daly City and ended near Candlestick Park in San Francisco early this morning ended with a Daly City police officer shooting and killing a suspect, San Francisco police said.

According to San Francisco police, their officers observed the vehicle on San Bruno Avenue and followed behind it. Shortly after, the driver brandished a firearm at the officers, police said in a news release.

Police said both suspects abandoned the moving vehicle at Hester and Bayshore in San Francisco and that the passenger immediately surrendered, but the driver ran off with a gun in his hand. 

Daly City and San Francisco police officers both ran after the man and said he raised his gun at the officers. 

A Daly City police officer, fearing for his life, discharged his firearm at the suspect, police said. 

The suspect, who police are not identifying, suffered gun shot wounds to his torso and succumbed to his injuries. 

According to Daly City police, the pursuit began near the intersection of John Daly Boulevard and Santa Barbara Avenue in Daly City.

The chase ended near the intersection of Bayshore Boulevard and Hester Avenue near the Candllestick Park exit of Highway 101 at about 12:28 a.m.
