Chemical Delivery Van Crashes on I-680; No Threat to Public Safety

Southbound Interstate Highway 680 in Walnut Creek has reopened after a collision involving a delivery van carrying corrosive chemicals on Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 8:55 a.m. just south of the junction with state Highway 24.

No injuries were reported, but the CHP issued a Sig-alert at 9:15 a.m. It was canceled at 12:12 p.m. when the affected lanes reopened.

The chemicals in the delivery van were found to be fully contained and there was no active hazardous materials situation or threat to public safety, according to the CHP.
