Child Shot While Waiting for SF Fireworks

A 12-year-old boy and a man were struck by gunfire on San Francisco's Embarcadero a short time before the New Year, police said.

Shots were fired on the Embarcadero near Pier 23 around 11:30 p.m., striking the boy in the foot and grazing a man in the hip, according to police.

Both victims are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said there is no suspect description. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact police.

Police arrested at least ten people for public intoxication and other crimes as New Year's festivities were in full swing on the Embarcadero.

As of 3 a.m., officers had arrested ten people in the Embarcadero area, where an annual fireworks show drew large crowds. Eight of those arrests were for public intoxication, and two were for unspecified misdemeanors, police said.
