Christmas in the Park is Saved

Big local wins at international awards show.

At the recent International and Festivals Association’s World Conference, held in Fort Worth, TX, the City of San José’s 2010 Holiday Events were awarded 11 prestigious pinnacle awards showcasing and highlighting the world’s best in events marketing and promotions.

Internationally known events such as the Indianapolis 500, the Rose Parade, Kentucky Derby, Disney Events and events from Europe, Asia, South America and Australia were also honored.

Christmas in the Park received two bronze awards in the categories of Best Miscellaneous Multimedia and Best New Fundraising Program (Help Keep the Lights Burning). The San José Holiday Parade received HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL nine international awards.

They received four gold awards as the best in the following categories: Best Full Length TV Program (NBC BayArea), Best Sponsor Follow-Up Report (PayPal), Best Pin (Wells Fargo Battle of the Bands) and Miscellaneous Clothing (2010 Parade Jacket).

The parade was honored with a silver award for Best Event/Organization E-Newsletter (The Parade Post) and awarded four bronze awards for Best Sponsor (Wells Fargo Bank), Best Miscellaneous Multimedia (2010 Sponsor Video), Best Miscellaneous Printed Materials (NBC Bay Area Review) and Best Cover Design.

The pinnacle awards represent the top events industry awards in the world with nominees from Europe, Africa, Asia, South America, Australia and North America.


2011 Holiday Events - Although the San José Holiday Parade will be dark for this year, the
Downtown Area will be bright with Holiday activities. Christmas in the Park will open for their
32nd consecutive year at Plaza de Cesar Chavez on Friday, November 25th. In addition, both
Downtown Ice and Winter Wonderland will also be open activating the downtown core with
nearly a half million visitors expected to visit the downtown core during the holiday season.
