The centennial Bay to Breakers race is in the books with some 50,000 runners successfully crossing the city from the Bay to the ocean's "breakers."
The 2011 race had new stricter rules that included no floats and zero-alcohol tolerance.
Race spokeswoman Stephanie Reichin told Bay City news that although there was not 100 percent compliance with new rules, she thinks the event was a "smashing success." Reichin added that fewer people came through the finish line without bibs, which means more people officials registered for the race.
San Francisco police said they only made a couple dozens arrests during the race.
There was also a report of a who fell off of the roof to a home on Fell St. The man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, San Francisco police Sgt. Michael Andraychak told BCN.
Although most of the people who run the race do it for fun, there is a winner.
Moroccan Ridouane Harroufi got first place for the men. Kenyan Lineth Chepkurui won for the women.
