A commercial vehicle hit a pedestrian just off of Interstate Highway 80 in San Francisco on Wednesday morning, a police spokesman said.
The collision was reported at 6:43 a.m. at Second and Bryant streets and sent the pedestrian to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, police spokesman Officer Robert Rueca said.
The driver of the commercial vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with police. The intersection remained closed as of 8 a.m. as officers investigate the collision, Rueca said.
Heavy traffic has been reported in the area and San Francisco Municipal Railway buses are being re-routed because of the closure, he said.
