Construction Worker Falls at Transbay Terminal Project

A construction worker was injured when he fell about 12 feet after he was hit by a crane in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood Thursday morning while working on the new Transbay Transit Center project.

The fall was reported at 8:11 a.m. in the 500 block of Howard Street near First Street, according to San Francisco fire Capt. Niels Tangherlini.

 When firefighters arrived at the scene, they were told that the worker had been hit by part of a crane, causing him to fall. Witnesses said the man was alert and talking when medical crews reached him.

He was taken by ambulance to San Francisco General Hospital.

Cal-OSHA is investigating.
