Construction workers at Mineta-San Jose International Airport accidentally set off a smoke alarm Friday morning for the second time in two months.
The fire alarm at Gate 29 caused brief evacuations and a short delay for some passengers, a spokeswoman for the airport said.
The alarm went off at about 8:30 a.m. in the passenger boarding bridge at Gate 29, which is located in Terminal B, spokeswoman Vicki Day said.
It turned out to be a false alarm, however, Day said.
According to Day, passengers who had to be re-screened were delayed by roughly seven minutes. She didn't think there were any impacts to airport operations.
A similar incident took place in the area of Gate 29/30 on Oct 20, when a fire alarm started going off prompting the evacuation of passengers and workers inside Terminal B. Screening was halted during the evacuation.
A traveler sent me this video in which you can hear the order to “evacuate because of a fire emergency.” @FlySJC says it was a false alarm, likely due to construction in Terminal B. pic.twitter.com/rKpoJbyVkA
