Cops: Bound-and-Gagged Shooting Suspects Knew Victim

The man who died after being bound-and-gagged knew his killers

The man who died after being shot in the neck and dumped -- bound and gagged -- in a Visitacion Valley street was a recent transplant from Georgia who knew his assailants, according to police.

Stephen Reid, 26, was the father of two young children and had a plane ticket to fly home to Georgia on Monday, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Instead, he and his 18-year old girlfriend were abducted by a crew of people who stormed their home on Sunday evening, the newspaper reported.

Police have arrested Vincent Bell, 31,Montrail Brackens, 21, of Oakland; Heather Leach, 24, of Hercules and Maryann Manalastas, 22, of Oakland in connection with the crime. All have pleaded not guilty, the newspaper reported.

The assailants barged into the home and assaulted Reid with a handgun, while the 18-year old woman was bound and hogtied in another room, the newspaper reported. They were loaded into a GMC Yukon, where Reid was shot in the neck. The couple were then dumped in the street. A motorist saw them at 8 p.m. Sunday and called police.

Reid died at San Francisco General Hospital.
