Cops Nab Parolee Wanted in SF Sex Assault

Tipster leads police to tattoo-necked man

The man wanted for suspicion of sexual assault at a San Francisco public housing development earlier this week was arrested Friday, police said.

Damir Shalako, 25, was taken into custody at Rolph Park at 26th and Hampshire streets in the Mission District at about 1 p.m., according to police spokesman Sgt. Troy Dangerfield.

Police credited a resident who saw Shalako at the park and called the department's anonymous tip line.

Shalako is suspected in the rape, robbery and beating of a 45-year-old woman Tuesday around noon at the Potrero Hill Housing Authority Development.

Shalako had been released on parole from prison only days before the alleged attack, and was visiting family at the housing development, according to Dangerfield.
