Cops Shoot, Kill Man in South Bay

A man was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon by law enforcement officials on a rural road in unincorporated Santa Clara County near San Jose, Santa Clara County sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Rick Sung said.

Both sheriff's deputies and San Jose police officers responded to a home in the 4000 block of Higuera Road about 12:30 p.m. Someone called in a report of a suspicious male with an unknown weapon nearby, according to Sung.

Sung said authorities came upon the suspect and multiple shots were fired. He said the suspect died at the location and that no one else was hurt.

Hours later dozens of police cars remained on the scene. A helicopter flew over the home and showed a large estate in the Eastern foothill just outside San Jose.  No other homes were within a half mile from the remote location.
